Celebrate the Green!
Happy St. Patrick’s Day! It's time for “Kiss me I’m Irish” buttons, shamrocks and green beer.

Apparently, some rogue elements in Northern Ireland started “celebrating” two weeks ago. And the beat goes on. Here is a link to a relevant Boston Globe story that is informative and somewhat optimistic:

http://www.boston.com/bostonglobe/editorial_opinion/editorials/articles/2009/03/17/northern_irelands_consensus/

As for the Shamrock-bearing Saint himself, you just gotta love a heathen who introduced thousands of unwashed, pagan Celts to the love of The Savior.

Here is a link to a great National Geographic backgrounder on St. Patrick and his feast day:

http://news.nationalgeographic.com/news/2009/03/090316-st-patricks-day-facts.html

Think about it. Without inspired guys like Patrick, we probably would not have engaged in the Great Crusades, The Inquisition, Rule by Divine Right etc.

After all those faith-based calamities, the general population was left with a taste for beer.

Cheers!

Top o' the mornin' to ya.....something like that. Thanks for updating the blog! It has been "lonely" (pun intended) looking every few days to see if it has been updated. Hope to see more updates, and more traffic in here----and that no one gets their "knickers in a wad"!

The best to all!!!

Thank you, Eminem for your loyalty. I must admit that I let the blog go dormant.

I did finally answer Mark from Georgia's comment, on the previous journal entry. He's quite articulate, if misled.

I spend a lot of time posting on the Nashville City Paper "Letters" board, I go there nearly every day. I should post here first, then go to Nashville.

I'll try to post a new journal entry real soon.

I meant to congratulate you on being in the printed "Letters" Monday----maybe they've seen the error of their ways.

Loner! WHASSSUP!!11!1!! It's been a while. Hope you and yours are doing well.

Are you back at NCP? I won't go there. Newspaper chat sites are now beneath my interest, especially those that won't allow hyperlinking. There's nothing profound there; only old wives and bored state employees who have nothing better to do. They are fetid swamplands of impermanent and meaningless chitter. Meh.

What about our poor little county, taken over by dirty socialists? We're watching a tidal wave of trillions of government spendulous dollars: vaporous money that's printed from nothing, becoming increasingly worthless, based on our children's and grand children's 'promises' to pay it back in the form of future punishing taxes, wash ashore in endless social programs. Baracky's Fantasy Island is hurting, hurting; and still there's no end in site to this ever-increasing social welfare net (what net, what blanket? COCOON!) and government largess. We are becoming a socialist nation: both Democrats and Republicans are shifting us in a direction that's bereft of our Constitution. That document is worthless, worthless I say!

Do you recognize where we're going? Does anyone?

I'm beginning to feel sorry for Obama. He's a simple-minded tool who's enjoying the immediate fame, but really he.has.no.clue. He's in over his head.

Welcome to our new Telepromptocracy.

Happy Easter to one and all. May the Bunny of Peace be with you!

Yes, I have been slacking off on this weblog. No question about it. Mea maxima culpa.

Most of my posting time has been spent elsewhere - primarily in Nashville, Tennessee. The Nashville City Paper is home to a great group of outspoken posters, this diverse online community can be found on the Letters to the Editor (LTE) board. I post there as Loner.

Here's the URL:

Eminem and Serr8d, I look forward to your eventual return to the NCP. By the way, when I ran this comment's text through livejournal's spellcheck, I got the following results for your usernames:

Eminem: Ermine, Ermines, Amine, Minim, Erminie, Amines, Ermin, Enema, Enemy, Ermine's, Emend, Ermina, Erminia, Ermin's, Amine's, Amino, Erminie's

Serr: Se rr, Se-rr, Serra, Sere, Serer, Seer, Err, Sear, Herr, Kerr, Serb, Terr, Serf

I especially liked the "enema" and "serf" suggestions, hope you do too.

A new Journal Entry for new_york_loner is in the works...... Loner out.

Yeah, yeah, whatever.....Happy BELATED Easter to you too, Lonemeister!

I hope this will get up and running again. NCP has a "great group of outspoken posters", you mean a great group of close-minded, "it's my way or the highway", "won't even look at the other side" or give it a chance to be developed without rude comebacks or flat-out condemnation, posers (oops, I meant posters).

The LTE section has gotten a little too intolerant for my tastes lately. Anyway, I may see you there, or see you here, whichever---at least here, I know I will be treated with respect (from the host anyway, even if he doesn't agree totally with me).
